NBA members had a memorable day yesterday visiting South of Scotland Beekeepers Association Bee Space near Dumfries. A huge thanks to Phil CollettLorraine Johnston and John Mellis for making us very welcome and sharing their remarkable journey on creating their wonderful Bee Space facility. Lorraine also gave informative insight to her work at Annan Academy setting up and managing a juniors' Bee Club and pioneering the NP5 Beekeeping qualification for Academy students. Lorraine is a role model for others to emulate. A packed lunch and the usual amount of cake and biscuits having been consumed, we ventured into their enviable apiary to check out some colonies. I was particularly taken with the cute little Abelo hive where we saw the new queen which Phil duly marked. Thanks again and many congratulations SoS on your wonderful achievements. And .. the weather was perfect :-)
