    Scottish honey survey landscape, bees and honey jars

    SCOTTISH HONEY SURVEY - 2025 HARVEST RESULTS

    You can now access the survey results here or via the News pages on the SBA website.

    The Scottish Beekeepers' Association, carried out this survey to establish the price and yield from the 2025 Scottish honey harvest for the hobby beekeeping sector. The results of the survey are published online and in the Scottish Beekeeper magazine. They have also been shared with the Scottish Government's Rural and Environment Science and Analytical Services Division (RESAS).

    UK bumblebees could suffer sharp falls in their numbers as heatwaves become more frequent and intense, new analysis suggests.

    The findings - shared exclusively with the BBC - draw on data from the Bumblebee Conservation Trust's long-running national monitoring scheme, which shows a decline in populations after the record-breaking heat of 2022.

    In a first-of-its-kind study from Australia's Macquarie University, in collaboration with Southern Medical University in China, researchers observed bees showing "emotion-like behaviours" previously only seen in mammals. 

    The BBC's Australia reporter Lana Lam explains how their work suggests that bees might have a much richer inner life than ever thought before.

    We will be at the Pathhead Village Day this coming Saturday selling member honey and various beeswax products as well as handcrafted items made by our members

    Test the honey before you buy and take a look at our busy bees inside our observation hive.
